Denton Wellness Centre given planning permission

A £14m leisure scheme in Tameside, being developed by Network Space, has been given the green light by Tameside Metropolitan Borough Council.

The Denton Wellness Centre will bring an eight-lane swimming pool, learner pool, spa area, fitness suite and ten-pin bowling alley to the town.

Stephen Barnes, Managing Director (Development) at Network Space, said: “Although much of our development pipeline is currently industrial focused, we have the experience and skillset to deliver a diverse range of projects, and in this case, a leisure scheme delivered in partnership with a local authority.

“Working closely with Tameside MBC, Active Tameside and Pozzoni, we’ve gone to great lengths to ensure that the building meets the needs of the local community, where inclusion is key.”

The centre will comprise a range of community facilities, including meeting rooms, children’s soft play area and multi-use studio spaces.

Willmott Dixon has been appointed for the construction which is expected to begin on-site later this year and should take 15 months to complete.
