£23m Derby student accommodation scheme green lit

A major new student accommodation development by Prosperity Capital Partners situated in Derby city centre has received planning consent.

Cathedral View, a £23m cluster-led scheme, will include 319 en-suite bedrooms with shared kitchen and living rooms in two blocks nine-storeys high, with student support facilities at ground level along with cycle storage and landscaping.

Gavin Barry, CEO of Prosperity Capital Partners, said: “Derby continues to have a clear need for well-designed, well-located student accommodation – so much so that Cathedral View is our second development in the city tapping into this demand. The scheme has been well-supported by the local Council and we are very close to signing with an established, high quality operator to run the accommodation once construction is complete.”

The 101,826 sq foot scheme is located within the city’s Cathedral Quarter, the site is next to the Joseph Wright Campus on Cathedral Road, with two multi storey car parks close by and the city centre within walking distance.

Works are set to commence in December and the development will be ready for the 2019 intake of students.
