The Best and Worst Performing Currencies in Q1 2015

International property investors must always pay careful attention to fluctuations in foreign exchange rates. Typically, currency prices exhibit low volatility; however, as the first quarter of 2015 has just ended, and would definitely not be described as a low volatility quarter, it is worthwhile to take a look at the best and worst performing currencies so far this year, which could offer some opportunities for UK property investors.

Thanks to the economic recovery in the US, the Dollar has strengthened making it one of the best performers over the past three months, leading to falling prices for most commodities, from oil to gold, all of which are priced in US Dollars. In the first quarter of this year Sterling fell by another 5% against the 'greenback' so property investors thinking of buying in the US might want to wait as the rate is currently just 1.484, which is down by 15.6% over the past nine months. However, if you are thinking of selling a property in the US, now could be an ideal time.
