Confessions of an Investor

Stewart Stabands comments

This particular day I wanted to enjoy the world but alas a leak (of water) put a stop to that. 'So what' I hear you cry. Well, I will have to put it into context.

In early May one of my long-standing tenants reported a small leak from the bathroom ceiling. I knew from previous instances it was coming from the above flat's bathroom so a quick call to the owner was made who reassured me it was being dealt with. Fast forward to mid-July and the one leak has turned into several leaks. The bathroom is a wet room; the hallway and living room have damp walls. How did it get to this I asked myself!

The landlady who owned the flat above turns out to be the reason why licensing is coming into effect. Not only is she incompetent but also clearly a rogue whom it turns out owes the management company thousands of pounds in service charges.  Her plumber, or should I say carpenter, actually created more leaks. When I managed to speak to the tradesman appointed to fix the leak he informed me he was in fact a carpenter!
