Outline permission granted for Belfast waterfront scheme

Outline planning permission has been secured by Turley and the Belfast Harbour Commissioners for a new development in Belfast's Harbour Estate.

The outline permission will pave the way for a major waterside development blending commercial office, residential, retail and leisure space.

Graeme Johnston, Property Director of Belfast Harbour Commissioners, said: "City Quays is an extension of the highly successful Clarendon Dock development. The development will regenerate a significant section of Belfast's waterfront and help reconnect the river frontage to the city centre."

The masterplan for the 20 acre City Quays site of former port land on Belfast's waterfront includes 120 residential units, 1,003 sqm of café and restaurant space, 75,730 sqm of commercial office space, 950 sq m of small scale retail and retail services space, a 17,850 sqm hotel, a multi storey car park and open space throughout the site.

Sara Tinsley, Associate Director at Turley in Belfast, said: "This is an exciting scheme and we are pleased with the announcement. We are very grateful to all who had an input into the masterplanning process to deliver a project which sees major revitalisation of such an important site in Belfast."
