Wigan shopping complex green lit

A shopping complex which comprises 15,500 sqft of retail space, an 80 bed hotel and a restaurant unit on a 0.7 acre site in Wigan has had its planning application approved.

The scheme by the Scarborough Development Group (SDG) will form the final phase of the Grand Arcade scheme prominently located off Millgate and River Way, adjacent to the Wigan Council offices and recently completed Wigan Life Centre.

William McAlister, associate director of SDG, said: "We have worked closely with the council throughout the planning stages of the final phase of the Grand Arcade development and believe that once complete, it will revitalise the town centre and provide a major boost for residents and visitors.”
