Office building set for residential conversion

Barratt London is intending to convert an office and retail building into private residential apartments worth £100m after securing the purchase of Great Minster East at 76 Marsham Street, London, SW1 from PFA Pension.

The 80,000 sqft building already has detailed planning consent from Westminster City Council and Barratt are intending to create 60 luxury apartments ranging from studios to four bedroom penthouses with secure on-site parking. A commercial unit will be located on the ground floor.

Alastair Baird, Regional Managing Director of Barratt London, said: "We are delighted to have secured this project - an office block conversion of high quality, with planning consent, in an excellent location.

"As this is an office conversion we can move very quickly and we will have completed the build and plan to have sold all the apartments at Great Minster East by December 2014. The proximity to our Courthouse scheme on Horseferry Road offers a number of advantages during the dual development process."

The building was constructed in the 1990s, is unlisted and was most recently used as offices by the Department of Transport.
