700% increase in Brits wanting to sell their Spanish home since Brexit

Since the June 23rd Brexit referendum, Sell4LessSpain.com has seen a 700% increase in Brits contacting them in order to sell their Spanish homes.

The firm says that there has been a massive surge in enquiries from Brits worried about the impact of Brexit, with many wanting to sell their Spanish properties and come back to the UK as they are concerned about both visa and tax implications when the UK exits Europe.

John May, co-founder of Sell4LessSpain.com has been helping many of these owners and explains some of the issues concerning Brits with homes in Spain: “At the moment UK citizens can live anywhere in Europe and still have access to the facilities of their home country. Post Brexit this will almost certainly change and the UK will need to fall in-line with other non-EU countries like Norway, Switzerland, Turkey and Russia. This means that facilities available and duration of stay will be subject to restrictions not currently imposed.

“The treaty is very clear. It states that non-EU visitors can only stay in the Schengen area for a maximum of 90 days in any six-month period; they then have to leave. They can come back after the six-month date and then start another 90 day period. There is no logical reason to assume that the UK will get any special treatment beyond this.”
